Thinking about making the journey from Addis Ababa to Nairobi to Mombasa on public transport?
The journey is long - really LONG! We spent 4 pretty tough days on the buses and trains and tried to document everything that happened along way. Follow us as we give you an up to date recount of the path we took.
With the holiday season behind the corner, we decided to put together a list of all the practical things that we use everyday in our travels. Doesn’t matter if the lucky person you’re going to gift is planning a weekend away somewhere in Europe, a van trip through the roads of USA, an adventure in Africa or a backpacking joint through SouthEast Asia - we guarantee that they will find these things useful!
'This time our legs didn't know what to expect. We would walk onto something that looked solid and hard, only to find out that our shoes would sink a little into the red and yellow mixture. (...) The Danakil Depression was the most unique experience we've ever had. It was difficult, hot and uncomfortable but isn't it the price you pay for beautiful things?'
The circle around us was slowly tightening. I'm not sure how many pairs of eyes were scrutinising our faces, but there were A LOT. The long bamboo sticks that each boy and man were holding didn't really add to our comfort. We actually weren't too sure how we would get out of the situation - we were a 30-minute walk down the rolling hills and bushes to the car, and a four hour drive north of Addis. But anyways, what did it matter?! We didn't even have the car keys! (...)
Tigray Churches are famous for their picturesque location, beautiful history and somewhat difficulty to reach. Whilst some of them are an off-road drive and a 5 minute walk up the stone stairs, others require walking for hours, climbing vertical rock shelves, and an ability to let go of your fear of heights!! We opted for trekking and climbing - we captured it in film and in our Tigray Churches story - read on!
